An Evening of Fellowship and Prayer

Sacred Heart Alumni Gather for Evening of Lenten Reflection

by MOSAIC Editorial Team

On Wednesday, February 28, Sacred Heart Major Seminary hosted its annual Alumni Evening of Lenten Reflection. Sacred Heart alumni gathered to enter deeper into the season of Lent through prayer and reflection. The night consisted of dinner, a presentation on Eucharistic evangelization, and Evening Prayer in the main chapel.

The night allowed Sacred Heart alumni to reconnect and share an enjoyable evening with friends and family. After a simple supper of salad, soup, and rolls, Fr. Charles Fox, director of graduate seminarians and director of liturgy at Sacred Heart, gave a moving presentation on evangelization, titled “Eucharistic Evangelization, Opportunities, and Obstacles.”

Father Fox asked participants to meditate on the relationship between the Eucharist and evangelization. “We’re here to uncover for people the beauty and the depth of the love of God at work in the sacramental life of the church, and especially in Holy Communion and in Holy Mass,” said Father Fox.

Father Fox described how the Holy Spirit equips each member of the body of Christ to take part in bearing witness to Christ based on his or her charisms. “Believing that there is only one approach to evangelization is simply not Catholic...It’s like a symphony, we’re all different instruments, playing one song in harmony,” explained Father Fox.

Following his presentation, the night concluded in the main Chapel with meditation and Evening Prayer led by Fr. Paul Snyder, alumni director at Sacred Heart.

Don’t miss our next alumni gathering, the annual Alumni Tiger Game & Tailgate on Friday, August 10, 2018. If you are interested in more information or being informed about future events, please contact Emily Berschback, alumni coordinator, at (313) 596-7424 or berschback.emily@shms.edu.
