Men Make Profession of Faith and Oath of Fidelity

Deacons Take Next Step for Ordination

by MOSAIC Editorial Team

On Sunday, March 8, ten men who have been recommended for the priesthood and are studying at Sacred Heart Major Seminary gathered in the seminary's Main Chapel to take their Profession of Faith and Oath of Fidelity.

Making the Profession of Faith and Oath of Fidelity is one of the final steps for the deacons in their formation, and a sign of their commitment to their upcoming presbyteral ordinations. It is a promise to uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church, and to always be her faithful stewards. The evening was an opportunity for the men to publicly commitment themselves to upholding the deposit of faith, canon law, and to the bishops of their respective diocese.

Dcn. John Carlin, Dcn. Colin Fricke, Dcn. Andrew Mabee, and Dcn. David Pellican are studying for the Archdiocese of Detroit; Dcn. Michael Cassar and Dcn. John Vinton are studying for the Diocese of Lansing; Dcn. Thomas Merkel is from the Diocese of Marquette; Dcn. Vincent Racanelli studies for the Diocese of Madison, Wisconsin, and Dcn. Marcus Shammami and Dcn. Kevin Yono are from the Chaldean Catholic Eparchy of St. Thomas.

The Sacred Heart family asks you to keep these men in your prayers in the weeks leading up to their ordination. SHMS is committed to forming healthy and holy priests, and your prayers and support are a large part of their spiritual journeys.
