Meet Deacon Mark Martin

Get to know Deacon Mark Martin, Diocese of Lansing, ahead of his ordination to the presbyterate on June 12th

by Editorial Team

Born and raised just outside Hillsdale, Michigan, Deacon Mark Martin’s vocation story began after his conversion to Catholicism from the Mormon faith at age 16.

Dcn. Mark went through RCIA, was initiated into the Church at the Easter Vigil, and then attended Oakland University where a profound Confession experience planted the idea of the priesthood in his heart.

This sacramental grace is something Dcn. Mark hopes to pay forward in his ministry as a priest. He says, “I look forward to being configured to Jesus Christ in a powerful way, and from this union, to become a conduit for His grace through my celebration of the sacraments.”

Dcn. Mark hopes to be a faithful and Spirit-led priest, like his personal priestly model and Confirmation saint, St. John Vianney.

Dcn. Mark will be ordained on June 12th at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in East Lansing, MI. Please join us in praying for him as he prepares for the Sacrament of Holy Orders.
