Meet Deacon Miguel Colunga-Santoyo

Get to know Deacon Miguel Colunga-Santoyo, Diocese of Lansing, ahead of his ordination to the presbyterate on June 12th

by Editorial Team

Deacon Miguel Colunga-Santoyo was raised Catholic, but it was during a retreat he attended as a teenager that he heard the Lord really calling him to embrace his faith.

The rest, as they say, was history; Dcn. Miguel entered the seminary right out of high school. “Entering Seminary has been one of the most wonderful gifts in my life,” he says, meditating on Pope Benedict XVI’s reflection that, ‘seminary is a time to fall in love with Jesus.’

As I prepare to begin my priestly ministry,” says Dcn. Miguel, “I want to focus on being faithful to God and his will, and to being attentive to the Holy Spirit’s inspirations and impulses so I can be where he wants me to be and do what he wishes me to do. I think this is the best way for me to answer the call to the New Evangelization.”

Dcn. Miguel looks forward to offering himself completely to the Lord in service of him and his Church, especially through the celebration of the sacraments.

Dcn. Miguel will be ordained on June 12th at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in East Lansing, MI. Please join us in praying for him as he prepares for the Sacrament of Holy Orders.
