Ordination to the Permanent Diaconate

Four SHMS Men Ordained

The Archdiocese of Detroit welcomed four Sacred Heart Major Seminary men to the Order of the Deacon on October 5, 2019. Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron ordained permanent Deacons Fred Billotto, Alfredo Guardiola Jr., Aaron Poyer and J. Michael Van Dyke in a Mass celebrated at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

Deacon Billotto, 55, an engineering program manager in Livonia, is assigned to Our Lady of Victory Parish in Northville. He and his wife Serena have five children, along with five grandchildren.

Deacon Guardiola, 67, a retired Environmental Health Division of the Wayne County Health Department, is serving at St. Francis Cabrini Parish in Allen Park. Deacon Guardiola is married to Peggy. Together they have three children.

Deacon Poyer, 52, a law enforcement member, has been assigned to Corpus Christi Parish in Detroit. Dean Poyer and his wife Julie have four children.

Deacon Van Dyke, 57, an automotive supple director, resides in Farmington Hills with his wife Juanita. He is assigned to the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit.
