Sacred Heart Celebrates the Feast Day of Solanus Casey

Mass Held to Honor Detroit's own Blessed Solanus Casey

by MOSAIC Editorial Team

July 30 marks the feast day of Detroit’s own Blessed Solanus Casey. A Mass was held at Sacred Heart Major Seminary for the feast day. Faculty and staff gathered in the seminary’s main chapel to remember the life and ministry of the Capuchin priest.

The Mass was celebrated by Father Charles Fox, director of graduate seminarians and director of Liturgy at Sacred Heart. Following Mass, the congregation received a blessing and had an opportunity to venerate a first-class relic of Blessed Solanaus Casey. The relic is a small bone fragment encased in a silver reliquary, which was a gift to the seminary from the Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Joseph.

Blessed Solanus Casey, pray for us!
