Sacred Heart is pleased to welcome two new coworkers and celebrate the promotion of two current staff members.

As faculty, staff, and students return to the seminary for our Spring Term, we also have the opportunity to welcome two new staff members who will help advance Sacred Heart’s mission of forming hearts and minds for Jesus, especially amidst the challenges of distance and virtual education. In addition to welcoming these new members of the Sacred Heart community, we also extend heartfelt congratulations to two current staff members who are moving into new positions.

Please join in congratulating, welcoming, and offering prayers of thanksgiving for the following staff members.

We are delighted to welcome our new Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management, Mr. Patrick Cassady, (M.Ed). Patrick comes to the Seminary from Oakland University where he served for 7 years in various roles, most recently as a Senior Recruitment Adviser in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. He earned his Bachelor Degrees in History and Political Science in 2013 and his Masters in Higher Education Leadership in 2016 from Oakland University. He and his wife, Aliena met at Oakland University and were married at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in September of 2016. They are expecting their first child in April 2021! Currently parishioners of Holy Family in Grand Blanc, Patrick and Ali have been residents of Holly for the past 3 years. Patrick is an avid runner and is also a hockey official in the greater southeast Michigan region. He looks forward to serving the commuter students attending the Seminary as well as prospective students who are discerning studies and formation.

Theresa Lubienecki joins Sacred Heart Major Seminary as our new Library Director. She comes from Buffalo, NY, where she earned a B.A. in history with a minor in Italian from Buffalo State College and an MLS from SUNY Buffalo, and she is working on a Master's in Theology. She worked at Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora, NY for 33 years; the last 18 years of this tenure as the Library Director. She loves her library work, birding, hiking, and visiting the Finger Lakes.

With Patrick’s hire, Mr. Ryan Cahill, is now moving fully into his role as our Director of Distance Education and Online Learning. Ryan is completing his doctorate in Educational Technology at Central Michigan and looking forward to defending this coming term. We are grateful for Ryan’s six years of service in Admissions, during which time the seminary has hit record enrollment numbers, and we are thrilled to have him in this new position with his newly minted credentials.

Ms. Melissa Pordon who has served previously as Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Studies and as Admissions and Retention Counselor in the ILM, will be moving fully into her role as Distance Education Assistant, assisting Ryan Cahill full-time in the essential work of distance education and online learning. Melissa and Ryan have been instrumental in the seminary’s transition to online learning during the various COVID-19 restrictions.
