"There is never enough we can say about Mary"

by Adam Maher

One of the professors at Sacred Heart tells us all the time, "There is never enough we can say about Mary." How true he is! Today we visited St. Anne's Church. Immediately, what struck my eye as you walk in and look to the left was the most amazing statue of St. Anne with the young child Mary. Mary's eyes are filled with delight as she looks at her mother, who is holding a scroll. On the scroll it is said to be the prayer, "Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone! Therefore, you shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength." Just to think that St. Anne taught Mary this incredible prayer, and that Mary would have taught her son that same prayer.

During our visit, we made it a point to pray for our mothers; to thank God for their inspiration and for imparting the Faith to us. For me, yes I prayed for you Mom :-), but also I asked for Mary's intercession. In the lower Chapel of St. Anne's Church I trusted my vocation to Mary. I prayed that she be close to me always, that she teach me how to love her son and others, and that she assist me in uniting my will with God's as she did. As I sat there and prayed, the young image of Mary came back to mind. I imagined being young with her, talking and playing outside with her like all friends do at that age. God gave me a wonderful image of her eyes. They sparkled with joy and had a brilliant light of trust, like most kids have in their parents. It gave me a greater confidence in God and his plan for me. It was an awesome blessing to visit and pray at St. Anne's.

Please, continue to pray for all of us!

God bless!
