Discover the Adventure of Discipleship This Advent

Sacred Heart’s Newest Free Online Course

by MOSAIC Editorial Team

Join the Sacred Heart Major Seminary family this Advent season and participate in a free non-credit online course taught by Sacred Heart’s own Dr. Daniel Keating, professor of Theology. This course, “The Adventure of Discipleship,” is the latest online learning and formation experience offered on Equip, the online formation hub sponsored by the Institute for Lay Ministry. The course is based on Dr. Keating’s book by the same title.

In this new course, Dr. Keating encourages participants to look at discipleship to Jesus Christ through the lens of adventure stories. Comprised of weekly lecture videos, reading materials, movie clips, discussion boards, and personal assessment quizzes, the self-paced program dives into classic adventures such as The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, and many other pop culture superheroes and TV characters to provide reflections on the Gospels and insight into the greatest adventure story of all time – a life with Jesus Christ.

The four-week course runs from December 1, 2019 to December 28, 2019. The course will cover themes from Dr. Keating’s book The Adventure of Discipleship.

Week 1: Discipleship as Adventure

Week 2: Discipleship More than a Game/Jesus More than a Superhero

Week 3: Providence and Trials in the Costly Adventure of Discipleship

Week 4: Companions for the Adventure of Discipleship

It’s the perfect way for the laity and clergy alike to prepare to live more fully the mystery of Christmas.

Registration and an introduction to the course is now open. Click here to register.
