Before entering the seminary, Deacon Jeremiah Hahn planned to be a professor like his father, oldest brother, and brother-in-law, but a different family member helped Dcn. Jeremiah recognize not his own plans, but God’s.
“My younger brother played a pivotal role in opening me up to the priesthood,” says Dcn. Jeremiah. “He discerned a calling first and his enthusiasm became infectious. At the same time, four fraternity brothers of mine all discerned a call to enter seminary.”
Also friends with the parochial vicar at his home parish in Steubenville, Ohio, Dcn. Jeremiah has found vocational inspiration and affirmation through brotherhood — spiritually, fraternally, and biologically. This bond continued to grow during his time at Sacred Heart, as his friendships with other seminarians helped him even more fully realize God’s love for him.
“To offer the Mass and preach have been dreams and goals of mine for over half a dozen years, he says. “This is the culmination of so much work, and it’s about to pay off. I will get to be an instrument of God’s grace and behold his power working through me in others.”
Dcn. Jeremiah will be ordained on May 21st at St. Peter Catholic Church in Steubenville, OH. Please join us in praying for him as he prepares for the Sacrament of Holy Orders.
