Thirteen Sacred Heart seminarians made the trip to the first-ever March for Life following the overturning of Roe v. Wade this year. Seminarian Andrew Schmidt, the organizer of the trip, explained that the focus on the national level was “on converting hearts as the next and vital step towards the protection of the unborn” and carrying the momentum gained at the March into state governments. He commented, “The coming years will certainly provide us ample opportunities to bring this March for Life zeal to our own state of Michigan.”
On their trip, they participated in several events, including the Vigil Mass for Life at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. They also guided Confession lines at LifeFest, an event hosted by the Sisters of Life.
Taking part in the March itself was a memorable experience for the group and Schmidt remarked that “This experience certainly will remain with us and continue to form us and our ministries as we move forward to where the Lord is leading us next.”
