Pray for Peace in the Holy Land

by Bro. David Brokke

This past Thursday the men of the Sacred Heart Major Seminary 1st Theology class met with Monsignor Trapp to discuss for the first time our pending trip this summer to the Holy Land.

The meeting concerned some of the historical background to what is presently going on in the Holy Land that could possibly effect this year's pilgrimage as well as an introduction to some of the holy sites we plan to see. Because of the tenuous relationships between Israel and Palestine heightened recently by sporadic outbursts of violence, no definitive decision has been made concerning our trip. Prime Minister Netanyahu, however, recently made an announcement trying to make a peaceful agreement to appease the perpetrators. So far this announcement has allayed acts of violence for the time being, which increases our prospects of going to the Holy Land and we are proceding forward as normal. If for some reason unrest resurges, Monsignor Trapp mentioned his back-up plan to visit other important biblical sites outside of the Holy Land and places of vital importance in the early life of the Church.

The final decision will be made sometime in late November or early December. Please pray for peace in the Holy Land and throughout the Middle East and during this National Vocation Awareness Week please pray in a special way for all seminarians that we may be open to God's will and channels of His mercy, love, and peace.
